The Traditional Wicker Cat Bed Is Hot Right Now!

Wicker cat beds have been around for a long time, I don’t know when they were first invented, but I think that they are about as traditional a cat bed as they come. Wicker is used for centuries to make a lot of different things other than cat beds. I’ve seen baskets, chairs, tables and bird cages made of wicker.

I guess I shouldn’t call them cat beds but rather wicker pet beds, because I’ve seen dogs sleeping in them too. Most dogs usually chew on the wicker and make a mess out of it. I think it must feel good because it massages their teeth and gums, kind of like a toothbrush. Cats are better behaved, maybe they can teach the dogs some manners…nah, I don’t think there’s hope for that.

Some wicker cat beds are just an open oval basket with a padded cushion inside. Others beds are more like a wicker cat basket with a hole for them to get in and out. But I think the cat also uses it to keep an eye on the dog. Some baskets are round or oval, some are square or rectangular. I think they come in almost any size or shape. You can find small baskets that are perfect sizes for a cat or a toy dog. They also come in medium or large for the dogs and bigger dogs, respectively. You can find a wicker pet bed at most any pet store or box store, they are the probably the most common pet bed on the market. They are relatively inexpensive which gives people an affordable bed for their furry friend.

A wicker cat bed is a better alternative to sleeping on the floor, but I think that most cats prefer something a little cozier and higher up. The dogs seem to like the wicker pet beds better than the cats, maybe because of the added benefit of the built in toothbrush. I don’t know, just a thought. It would be nice if the cushions had a removable cover that could be washed every now and then. Maybe they make them different now than they used to. My aunt had one for her dog that had more hair on it than the dog had on him. It was always stuck in a corner out of sight, between the couch and the wall. I’m not sure if I actually saw the dog sleeping in it, but he must have. If not, where did all the hair come from?

Everyone has their preference of what makes a good bed and wicker pet beds aren’t the exception. I suppose that if cats could talk they’d tell you if they like them or not. The dogs don’t have to say a thing, I can tell by the teeth marks.
